Methylene Blue

Methylene Blue is readily water soluble and can be excited from 550-700 nm, with an emission centered around 690 and a quantum yield of 0.52. One notable advantage of Methylene Blue is that its absorption/emission maximum is significantly different than that of the widely used singlet oxygen Sensor Green molecule, which shows an increased emission intensity upon reacting with 1O2.

Description

Methylene Blue is readily water soluble with an Abs λmax of 660 nm and an emission centered around 690 nm, with a quantum yield of 0.52.

Methylene Blue is sold dry and is simply reconstituted by adding 50 µL of either water/MeOH/EtOH and/or buffer.  One vial of our sensitizer will typically allow for 10 measurements to be undertaken, when 5 µL from the 50 µL is further diluted into 3 cm3 volumes within a cuvette, the OD at Abs λmax 660 nm is typically > 0.1.

For optimum performance, probe vials should be stored at -2 to -8 °C when not being used.  Probe solutions should be used after dilution.
