 MEF Nanoparticles

We offer several different types of Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence (MEF) nanoparticles, ideal for all your microscopy, FCS, FLIM and imaging applications.  MEF nanoparticles are patent protected silver nanoparticles surrounded by a SiO2 shell containing a fluorophore. By tuning the optical properties of the metal core and the fluorophore location within the silica shell, both the brightness and photostability of the particles is significantly enhanced through a process known as Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence (MEF), much brighter as compared to a particle of equal size without a silver inner core. Ursa’s range of different sized MEF nanoparticles have been engineered to provide bright, stable fluorescence throughout the visible spectrum with some nanoparticles  having surface functionalities to enable linkage to biomolecules.  

All our MEF nanoparticles are sold dry (lyophilized) and can simply be reconstituted by adding either water/buffer/MeOH or EtOH. One vial contains ~ 0.25 mg/ml. Vials should be stored at 4oC and never frozen.
